The travel agent and her financial director came by the hotel with a copy of an email from the
U.S. travel agent (who had said previously that he'd pay for the changes) saying he did not have the money now. That's bad enough, but then they threatened to have me arrested if I did
not give them 510 euros right away!

I held my ground, did not give them any money, and they didn't have me arrested. But they are also not doing anything else for me, obviously. I will sort out a few things on my own
from Tana, but this has been very frustrating to say the least.

The U.S. agent was not the problem - he told the Malagasy agent multiple times not to charge me for making changes that came about because they didn't deliver what they were supposed to (English speaking guide in the West - or, in fact, ANY guide).

They then decided this meant they could ask for absurd sums of money (half as much as the whole month trip cost) for changing dates and adding 3 days at a lodge they own. I can't really disagree with the U.S. agent's refusal to pay for that.

Sheesh. I take it that informing people of costs before fulfillment is nothing more than a quaint notion there?
