I started taking lariam (again). Fortunately, I tolerate it well.

And I stocked up on bismuth subsalicylate (generic pepto-bismol).

If only the clearing things off my desk were anywhere as easy as the medical preparation.

Malarone?

Hi Miram -- Guy here. I just caught up to your new journal (it's been a few months!).

On my last trip to ZA, I took Malarone. The travel clinic at the local hospital claimed it wasn't available yet, but my MD wrote the Rx anyway, and the pharmacy was able to fill it. It was a much better alternative to lariam.

I can't recall the cost issue, since it was so long ago -- but it may have been covered on an Rx drug plan. The other part I liked about Malarone is that one only took it during the time one is traveling in a malaria zone. I always thought the Lariam rules were a pain.

In any case, welcome home, if you are indeed home at this point.
