Further moves towards vacation
Jul. 31st, 2008 05:32 amI started taking lariam (again). Fortunately, I tolerate it well.
And I stocked up on bismuth subsalicylate (generic pepto-bismol).
If only the clearing things off my desk were anywhere as easy as the medical preparation.

Malarone?
Date: 2008-08-22 08:42 pm (UTC)On my last trip to ZA, I took Malarone. The travel clinic at the local hospital claimed it wasn't available yet, but my MD wrote the Rx anyway, and the pharmacy was able to fill it. It was a much better alternative to lariam.

development of resistant strains. (There is already mefloquine resistant malaria in parts of Asia.)
I thought major issue with malarone was cost, not availability. Doxycyclone has its fans, too, but causes photsensitivity, which is the last thing a person with my coloring needs.
