Travel Planning, take 3
Oct. 29th, 2008 09:41 pmThe Japanese government has decided to revoke the landing rights for the eclipse tour to Iwo Jima. I can get my money back, roll it over to a tour the next year to Tahiti (not really my thing), or take one of two substitute tours - one to Western China and Tibet (again, no real interest on my part) and one to Kiribati, which includes the islands of Tarawa and Butaritari. I will wait for more info on the Kiribati option, but my inclination right now is to cancel and do something else next summer.
Nearer to hand, there are also decisions to make. And, lest anyone fear leading me astray, I will remind you of my fondness for the Swahili word "hatinafsi," which means "to ask for advice in hopes of getting told to do what you intended to do all along."
