1) Les Crane died last month. He was responsible for the 1971 recording of "Desiderata." Which was, of course, responsible for the sale of a lot of posters of that mediocre poem hanging on teenager's walls for the next few years.
2) I am horribly fascinated by the gruesome stabbing and beheading of a man on a bus in Canada. All of the reports are that the murderer just came over and sat next to the victim after a rest stop and started stabbing without a word. One tends not to think of such things happening in Manitoba.
3) The Washington Post today had an obituary for a man named Ricky Dumpit. There's no real significance to this, except that Dumpit was a sanitation worker. Herb Caen would be proud.
