Northeastern.

What's interesting is that haloumi took the test and it didn't suggest that he was "Someone from England, Australia, or New Zealand, in which case why are you doing this quiz in the first place?" Rather, it said he was from "New York (or, if you live in Jersey, you live 10 minutes from New York."

I understand there being multiple northeastern accents, but not why an Australian would sound more like a New Yawkuh than I would.

The NYC accent is definitely not the same as the Long Island accent, which is closer to that of Connecticut. Most Americans will quickly figure out I'm a northeasterner but not be more precise than that. Most Australians (and Africans) seem to decide I'm Canadian, while I think the typical Canadian accent is more midwestern.
