Charles Krauthammer mentioned the story about Alkan's death and it not being true. But he added that he wished it were because it reinforced his view of the Talmud as beautiful but deadly. By the way, I have to admit to not having heard of Alkan previously - I go to this series to support the concept of performing Jewish classical music. Some day I may even figure out what it means to categorize something as Jewish classical music.

I also found the MIT statistic heartening. I give money to the alumni association earmarked for scholarships to enable results like that.
