1. Do you make daily to-do lists? If yes, do you usually successfully clear them? I make to-do lists more or less daily. But they are, in general, far too ambitious to be completed within a single day.

2. What is your favourite piece of clothing? Do you have a different favourite for each season? I have a lot of items of clothing I like. I have a black long-sleeve t-shirt I favor for the winter. I also have a couple of nice dresses I like a lot, but have fewer occasions to wear.

3. When did you last interview for a job? Did you get it? Long enough ago that I don’t really remember. I know that I must have interviewed around 2016 or so for the last job I got, which I retired from two years ago.

4. Teacher or student? Both, but being a student is less work.

5. What comes to mind when you think of fear? I am terrified of heights.

6. What is your favourite thing to do on a Saturday morning? Sleep late.

7. Where do you think your road is going? I am not really sure what this means. My road in life is meandering without any particular direction.

8. What was the last bad movie you watched right to the bitter end? Why did you keep watching? I can’t really think of any particularly bad movie I’ve watched recently. Historically, the two that come to mind are: 1) Ski Lift to Death, which I kept watching because I was waiting to see if anyone would actually die and 2) Disco Beaver From Outer Space (which I generally describe as the worst movie I ever saw) which I kept watching because it was mercifully short and ended about when I decided to walk out.

9. August 9 is "Book Lover's Day". What book are you loving right now? If you're not loving any book at the moment, what book have you previously loved? I am not sure if I am loving it, but I am at least enjoying The Great Psychedelic Armadillo Picnic by Kinky Friedman. A book I loved fairly recently is In Xanadu by William Dalrymple.

10. If your home was being redone on one of those house makeover/reno shows, what would you want to have done to your home? I’d like a bathroom remodel, with a Japanese soaking tub.

11. If you were forced to take part in a reality/competition show (e.g. Big Brother, Survivor, Bake Off, etc.), but you could choose which show to be on, what would you pick? The Amazing Race, except for all the times they make people do things like rappelling and bungie jumping.

12. What's the most illegal thing you've done? Nothing I’d admit to publicly.

13. If you had to tattoo your arm with a message to yourself, what would you write? “Do not tattoo.”

14. If you could earn the same pay no matter what job you did, would you pursue another profession? If so, what would you choose, and why? I’m retired, which is perfect. Back in my working days, there were certainly times when I was frustrated, but jobs as a madcap heiress are remarkably hard to come by.

15. Would you be happier with more control over what happens in your life or more control over your response to what happens? I want to control the entire world. I already control my responses to what happens.

16. If you were a role model to millions of children who closely followed you and your life choices, how would you change your behavior? I’d eat healthier food, get more exercise, go to sleep at more reasonable hours, and cuss less.

17. Do you squeeze the toothpaste tube or roll it? What’s the advantage of your method? I squeeze it, but from the bottom. Most tubes these days are not easily rollable.

18. Using only one word per person, what was your first impression of each person present with you now? There is nobody else here, so I suppose the best answer to this is “nonexistent.”

19. What books on your shelf are begging to be read? Hmm, probably my next book club book. Which is The Midnight Library by Matt Haig

20. What do you do if you can’t sleep at night? Do you count sheep, toss and turn, or get up and try to do something productive? I get up and read, do puzzles, watch YouTube videos, or fiddle around with playing dumb games on my phone.

21. Which do you do more often: hum or whistle? Hum. I can’t really whistle a tune.

22. When you’re alone at home, do you wear shoes, socks, slippers, or go barefoot? Either barefoot or socks, depending on how cold it is.

23. Who’s the biggest “pack rat” you know? Me! But it’s a hereditary condition, The worst of all time was my great-aunt Frieda.

24. What is your most unusual nighttime or morning ritual? I don’t think I have any particular rituals

25. How do you get rid of pesky phone calls from telemarketers/scam callers? Hang up quickly.

26. Have you ever square-danced or line-danced? When was the last time you did any sort of dancing (not counting when alone in your home!)? I did a lot of folk dancing up to about 1990ish, when I got obsessed with storytelling. I haven’t square danced since elementary school, but folk dancing did include line dancing. I think I did line dance at a bar mitzvah a few years ago and I am fairly sure I did on a cruise I was on. As for other sorts of dancing, the best answer I can give is, alas, not recently enough. I need to fix that.

27. When you leave a room, do you turn the lights off behind you or keep the lights on throughout your house most of the time? I tend to keep the dining room light on most of the time that I’m awake, but turn off other lights when I leave the room.

28. How frequently do you purchase lottery tickets? I buy two at the beginning of each month.

29. Have you ever been an audience member for any television shows? Which ones? If you haven't, would you like to be? For which shows? Do you count sitting in the audience while waiting for my turn to come up on a game show? (I was on Jeopardy back in the late 1980’s.) I also went with a friend to a taping of The Tonight Show back about 1982 or so. If I recall correctly, it was with Joan Rivers hosting and David Steinberg as a guest.

30. When was the last time you sat on a park bench for more than ten minutes? Describe the occasion. It must have been when I was early for meeting someone, but I can’t think of specifics. Oh, wait, it was probably in New York, to people watch before going to a show.

31. When something is funny, do you usually laugh raucously, hiss, snort, chuckle quietly to yourself, or smile and nudge the person next to you? If something is very funny, I laugh raucously.
