Away and Back Again

I spent the past week in Haiti. I know there are poorer countries, including some I've been to, but it is really overwhelming to see the conditions in a place that is just a few hours flying time away.

I have lots of things to catch up on, including several from before the trip. But I also need to catch up on hot showers and sleep.

I saw a tap-tap (the Haitian equivalent of a carrier, i.e. a truck with benches that serves as a bus) which said "patience, mon ami" on the back. And so I offer that sentiment here.
