My Literary Crush

I've been rereading Rex Stout's Nero Wolfe novels and this little tidbit (from The Final Deduction) reminds me of why Archie Goodwin is still my biggest literary crush. The set-up is that Archie has to type up a transcript of some events for the police. Wolfe ia asking Archie to send orchids to two people and is settling in with a book.

Wolfe says, "Dendrobium chrysotoum for Miss Gillard and Laelia purpurata for Doxtor Vollmer. Tomorrow."

Archie's reply is "Right. And Sitassia readiya for you and Transcriptum underwoodum for me."
