Afternoon in Birdland
Aug. 2nd, 2009 07:16 pmThe weather was iffy, but I'd already bought the ticket (a few weeks ago), so I drove to Baltimore to watch the Red Sox play the Orioles. There was a little rain on the way over, but it was just cloudy by the time I was there. Except for a brief light shower in the bottom of the 7th inning, the weather cooperated. (In fact, I'd have liked it to be cloudier for the drive home, as I hate driving into the sun.)
The Orioles exhibited remarkable incompetence in pitching. Not that the Red Sox pitched brilliantly, but they did well enough that the final score was 18-10. It was a particular pleasure to see Reddick get his first major league home run. And Youk had an excellent day (and series, in fact).
I do like Camden Yards, but I still wish the Orioles knew how to do a proper 7th-inning stretch.
