Poe may have written about a cask of the stuff, but a glass of amontillado was all I was up for at lunch. [Bad username or site: @ livejournal.com] was in town and we went out to lunch at Jaleo, an excellent tapas bar down the street from my office. I don't normally indulge in alcohol at that hour, but sherry just goes with tapas as far as I am concerned. [personal profile] piefessor went for the sangria, instead, but sangria brings back bad memories of teenage drinking experiments for me. As for food, there was much garlic. Everything I've ever had there has been excellent and this was no exception. We talked about travel and literature and musicals and so on. It was good to see her, albeit so briefly.

In other foodie news, today's farmer's market haul included the last of the season's strawberries, the first of the season's blackberries, kale, cauliflower, green beans, summer squash, and banana peppers. There is now a dairy showing up, too, but they didn't have any crumbly sorts of goat cheese yet. The guy told me he should have feta and havarti next week.
