I will write a concert review on Pink Martini tomorrow (and maybe rant about parking lots). For now, let me share a tidbit from the security manager of one of my company's facilities (with names deleted):

It was reported to our Facilities Manager, that a snake was encountered at the entrance of our XXX building last week. It is the time of year, in most of the Northern US, when snakes are coming our of hibernation and seeking food and shelter from the elements. It is no surprise that they view our modern environmentally controlled buildings as stable and appealing residences. YYY's suggestions, to the employee that reported the incident, is good advise [sic] to everyone.

1) Leave the snake alone and use another exit
2) Call animal control. Animal Control is equipped to handle these situations.
3) We should not risk staff or contractors being bitten by a poisonous snake. Even a nonpoisonous snake can cause an a severe infection.

I consider the last item to be a true classic of corporate memo writing.

On another amusing work related note, the people in my office tend to allow everyone access to our electronic calendars. I couldn't help but laugh when I saw that one of my colleagues had blocked out time on her calendar today for "hiding."
