Yarn Swap

The Knit Knutz annual yarn swap was this afternoon. It was a good opportunity to get rid of some things I'd been given which didn't work for me for various reasons. I brought some purple muppet fur (i.e. garish, fuzzy stuff) I'd been given by a friend since I'm not real fond of bulky fuzzy yarns. I also got rid of some otherwise nice yarn which had too much pink in it for me.

Everybody's offerings went on one table. We drew numbers and took turns going up and grabbing. All the yarn of one dye lot went as a bunch, so you could easily end up with enough for actual projects. I got some lovely deep red and blue sock yarn, a skein of green and black wool which will work for a scarf, and a bag of maroon wool which is, I hope, enough for a vest. After three rounds, enough people were passing that we made it a free for all. Since nobody else was taking it, I took a few odd skeins I can use for afghan squares. Kathy and Carol both do charity afghans and grabbed a lot of Homespun for those. The biggest leftover was several skeins of chenille. I didn't care for the colors and I find chenille a pain to work with, so that didn't surprise me.

I also got rid of a couple of Mon Tricot magazines from the 1970's.

I am claiming that this means I will spend less money at Maryland Sheep and Wool in two weeks.
