Last Chance Harvey
Feb. 21st, 2009 07:09 amI was in a movie-going mood last night and selected Last Chance Harvey because, of the movies I was interested in seeing, it was playing at the most convenient time and location. It's fairly standard romantic comedy fare in most ways. The twist is that the actors are Dustin Hoffman and Emma Thompson - not a couple of glamorous youngsters. There's a sentimental subplot involving his daughter's wedding (the reason he's in London) and a funny subplot involving her clingy mother (who suspects her new neighbor is a serial killer).
There's nothing remarkably original or profound here, but it's a quiet, well-acted story. I enjoy sweet little movies like that and recommend it if you do, too.
