Conversation I had over breakfast at the hotel with a guy from my company who works in Colorado was significantly more useful than my 8 o'clock meeting, though the latter gave me a few ideas on things I should work on (and a question to ask at my 3 o'clock).

It reminds me that the only real downside to my job is being the only person from the company there. I do have a lot of phone and email contact, but the serendipitous meetings don't happen so much.

This was, in general, a very successful trip. I didn't manage to meet with one person I'd have liked to touch base with, but I have both some specific information I needed and a few good ideas for things I need to work on. The follow-up will be time consuming, but that's the nature of the beast.

All of the phone conversations and emails in the world cannot always accomplish what an hour or two of face to face time can.
