For those in and around the greater Washington, D.C. metro area, one of the great events of the year is approaching this Saturday. I refer to the Folklore Society of Greater Washington's Mid-Winter Festival (usually referred to as the mini-fest) at the Takoma Park Middle School.

Complete details are at the festival website but the important part to know is that I'm telling stories (in room 122) from 4:30-5. My program is called "Rhyme and Reason" and will include astonishing feats of memory, assuming I don't screw up the 11 page rhymed story I've used this as an excuse to learn.

There's also music and dance and food and all sorts of other festive stuff, but the shameless self-promotion on my part is what's important, right?
