To make it more complicated, in my youth, there were two types of cheesecake. Italian cheesecake was made with ricotta cheese. And Jewish cheesecake was made with cream cheese. Despite people who associate both with New York, the best cheesecake came from Boston and there were two cheese cake shops, both making Jewish cheesecake. I preferred Rowinsky's but some people favored Baby Watson. And both were cheesecake flavored.
