#3 is very familiar. I hate asking for help, but sometimes I had no choice. Fortunately, there were plenty of dorm-mates who could help me with 8.02 and that shitty C course I took in Course X, and I was able to help them with their writing.
#4: Y HALO THAR WHATEVER-THE-HELL NUMBER MY QUANTUM MECHANICS COURSE WAS AND YOUR 18.03 "CO-REQ." Co-req, my ass. Quantum mechanics was virtually impossible without already having studied differential equations, and while admittedly differential equations were where I hit the wall, mathematically speaking, I can't believe the Course X people expected students to be studying those simultaneous with having to solve this kind of shit.
#5: I think I didn't notice this because I already had the writing skills, although not necessarily the public speaking ones; those I acquired on the job. But now that you mention it, I don't remember any emphasis on written communication outside lab reports, fulfilling the basic writing requirement, or taking literature classes.
