October Prompts
Nov. 9th, 2021 10:01 pmI’m back from a trip to Mystic, Connecticut and New York City, which I will write about in the next few days. In the meantime, here are my belated answers to the October prompt questions.
1. Do you like rain? It depends on what I am doing. I dislike driving at night in the rain, for example. I like walking in rain if it’s not too heavy. And, oddly, I love sleeping in a tent in the rain.
2. Have you seen someone recently you used to talk to, but don’t anymore? Not really.
3. What color are your eyes? Hazel
4. How long have you known the last person you text messaged? About 10 years, I think.
5. Do you keep notes, drawings or letters that people give you? Sometimes.
6. Have you ever locked yourself out of your car? Once that I can remember. What happened was that my keys fell out of my bag, so I got back to my car and saw them on the passenger seat. Fortunately, I was less than a mile from my house, so I walked home and got the spare key.
7. What’s your favorite kind of cheese? Cream cheese.
8. Have you ever boycotted anything? I vaguely recall boycotting grapes back in the 1970’s.
9. Do you have any embarrassing usernames? No.
10. Have you ever did well on a test when you didn’t study? Yes, including at least one grammar test, which whoever wrote this question failed.
11. Do you still take hot showers when it’s hot out? Yes.
12. Do you like the picture on your ID? Not particularly.
13. Is there someone you pretend to like but you really don't like? Not really.
14. Have you ever raked leaves, and then played in them? Yes, as a child.
15. What is one thing you've realized or discovered lately? Joe Darion, who was the lyricist for Man of La Mancha also wrote the lyrics for the musical Shinbone Alley (based on Archy and Mehitabel.)
16. Which family member did you inherit your hair color from? My mother.
17. What’s the average length of a shower for you? Probably about 15 minutes.
18. What’s something about adult life you were never warned of or prepared for? How much time is spent running errands.
19. If you won the lottery, do you think any of your family members would ask you to give them some of your money? My brother would definitely ask for money.
20. What is the craziest thing you’ve seen happen at your workplace? Several of us flew up to a contractor’s facility for a meeting. The government lead for the project got into a spat with the contractor lead over who was going to present their charts first. When he lost the argument, he slammed his laptop shut and stormed out of the room and got a plane back home.
21. Would you rather read a book or listen to the audiobook? Read the book.
22. Have you ever eaten snow? Sugar-in-the-snow is a delicious confection made by pouring hot maple syrup onto fresh snow packed into a pie tin. In other words, yes.
23. Curtains or blinds? Curtains.
24. Have you ever adopted a stray (cat or dog)? We adopted a cat when I was in junior high or so.
25. Do you own/wear any jumpsuits? I own one, but wear it pretty much for costume purposes. (I got it from my Zero-gravity flight.)
26. Do you struggle with dry skin in the winter? Somewhat.
27. Have you ever gotten angry at an employee and complained to the manager? I’ve elevated things to a manager when dealing with airlines or hotels at times.
28. Do you add unnecessary letters to the end of words? Why would anyone do that?
29. What was the last thing you used your phone for, besides calling/texting? Looking up directions to somewhere.
30. Do you always check the prices of things when you buy groceries? Not really, since I tend to buy the same things all the time.
31. How many nights per week do you cook dinner at home vs. going out to eat? If I’m not traveling, I almost always cook dinner for myself.
