There are a couple of brief entries about my trip to Houston over on Areas of Unrest. On a more general travel note, I continue to be irritated by hotel taxes. State, county and city taxes on the hotel room added up to 17 per cent, which is absurdly high. And it's not like I get any significant benefit out of them. I can, however, see why they are popular with locals as they get travelers to fund their amenities.
