For anyone who hates mysterious service charges....

I found this wonderful video via an article in the International Herald Tribune of all places. I have no personal experience with Lloyd's Bank, but the point about hidden fees is a good one.

There's a bank out here (I'm thinking WaMu, but it could be Wachovia) that is advertising that everytime you use your credit card, they will "help you save money" by moving $1 from your checking to your savings. Of course, I see that for what it is: a way to get people to forget what is in their checking account so they bounce checks, earning the bank fees.

Yup. It's Wachovia (http://www.wachovia.com/personal/page/0,,11_481_12660,00.html).

We link your Way2Save account with your Wachovia checking account and automatically transfer $1 from your checking account to your Way2Save account when you do everyday banking like:

* Make Check Card purchases.
* Pay bills online, including through Online Banking with BillPay.1
* Set up automatic debits made from your checking account.

Nasty nasty nasty.
