Oh, I don't question him being a Jewish composer. I question whether that automatically makes the music he composed Jewish. My favorite example to use in pondering this question is Bernstein's "Mass" but Copland's "Appalachian Spring" (which, of course, uses a Shaker hymn) also qualifies.
