Three Scenes From My Office

1) At staff meeting, one of my colleagues is discussing the problems we have getting our packages processed by the front office. He said, "I can save the day every day. That's not the point."

2) Since I rarely go to my corporate office, I usually connect to the company's network via our remote office software. Sometimes, the mail program takes ages to open and I have been known to forget just why I was getting into that mail to begin with. This afternoon, I remembered to send the quarterly report to my boss and to ask my grandboss a question about a research proposal. I had this nagging feeling, though, that I had forgotten something. So I said (out loud), "okay, who else did I intend to send email to?"

Colleague #1 (picking a random name): Tom

Colleague #2 (picking another random name): George

Me: You're not going to believe this, but I really did intend to send an email to Tom and George.

3) The guy whose office is next to mine brought in his aged and fading copy of You Will Go to the Moon. This is the very first book I remember owning! Looking through it, I was amazed at how vividly I remember the pictures of the circular space station and of the rings you were supposed to have to hold onto to get to your seat on the moon vehicle.
